How the company website profile works
A company's own website is the place it describes itself: what it does, how to reach it, which legal entity is behind it and which tools it runs on. Reading it by hand means opening the about page, the contact page, the legal notice and the footer, and copying what you find. This tool does that in a few seconds.
It reads the home page and the few pages that carry company facts — about, team, contact, legal notice (impressum, mentions légales) and careers — at most eight pages, and never a page the site's robots.txt asks automated clients to leave alone. From them it takes the title and a one-paragraph description, the site's language, general contact mailboxes such as info@ or sales@, company phone numbers, the address and organisation details the site publishes as structured data, links to its company profiles on LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and GitHub, and the technologies the home page uses.
VAT numbers, UK company numbers, French SIREN and SIRET numbers and Norwegian organisation numbers printed in a legal notice or footer are picked out and their check digits tested. When one of them belongs to a company we know, the company is shown beside it, which ties the website to a legal entity.
What each field means
- Emails
- General mailboxes of the company (info@, sales@, support@ …) on its own domain.
- Identifiers found
- VAT, company or organisation numbers printed on the site, with a check-digit test.
- Linked company
- The company one of those numbers belongs to, when we know it.
Where this check stops
- Only what the site itself shows on the pages read: a field not found was not seen there, which does not prove the company lacks it.
- Personal addresses are never collected and a mailbox that could belong to a person is left out on purpose. People are named only as the site presents its leadership — founders, executives, board — by name and title.
- A number printed on a site is a statement by the site's owner. A linked company means the number matches; it is not proof the company runs the site.

Frequently asked
Which pages are read?
The home page, then the about, contact, legal-notice and careers pages it links to (or their usual addresses), up to eight pages in about ten seconds.
Why is an email address I can see on the site missing?
Only general mailboxes are reported. An address such as firstname.lastname@ belongs to a person and is never collected.
Does it respect robots.txt?
Yes. A page the site asks automated clients not to read is skipped, and a site that asks not to be read at all is not read.
