What this checks

How the website technology checker works

The tools a company's website runs on say a lot about the company: whether it sells online, which marketing and analytics stack it pays for, how big its web team is likely to be. For sales and partnership research, technology is often the field that turns a list of names into a list of prospects.

This checker loads the site's home page once, the way a browser would, and matches what it sees — response headers, script and stylesheet addresses, generator tags, cookies — against documented signatures. Each detection is shown with the piece of evidence that triggered it, so a surprising result can be checked rather than trusted.

Run it on the address people actually visit. A redirect to another domain is followed and reported, because a company's marketing site and its shop are often built differently.

Questions

Frequently asked

Does it log in or crawl the whole site?

No. One public page is fetched, with a short timeout and a size cap.

Why is a tool I know they use missing?

It may load only on some pages or only after consent, or have no documented signature yet. Missing means not detected.
