SSL certificate checker
See when a site's certificate expires, who issued it and whether it covers the name you typed.
- Valid-from and expiry dates
- Issuer and covered names
- Hostname match
Give it something to look up — Glee will do the digging.
How the ssl certificate checker works
An expired or mismatched certificate takes a website offline for every visitor, with a full-page browser warning. Certificates now last months, not years, so expiry is a recurring risk rather than an annual one.
This checker opens a TLS connection to the host on port 443, reads the certificate it presents and reports the validity period, days to expiry, the issuing authority, the names the certificate covers and whether the host you entered is one of them. Problems are listed as findings.
What each field means
- Valid until
- After this date browsers refuse the connection.
- Hostname match
- Whether the name you entered is covered.
Where this check stops
- A valid certificate proves neither company identity nor overall website security; it proves the connection is encrypted to whoever controls the name.

Frequently asked
Does a padlock mean the site is safe?
No. It means the connection is encrypted. Scam sites have valid certificates too.
